Keurig descale light won’t turn off: complete the right mode and rinse
A normal water rinse does not always clear the counter. The brewer must enter its documented descale mode and reach the final “Descale Complete” or equivalent state after fresh-water rinses.
Before you start
- ✓Identify the exact Keurig model; do not copy another brewer’s button combination.
- ✓Remove the pod and water filter, and allow the full time stated by that manual.

Enter descale mode for this model
On K-Supreme Plus SMART, open Settings with both arrows or select Continue when the notice appears, then choose Descale Mode. Other Keurig panels use different controls; the command must match the exact guide.

Complete solution dispensing
Use only the dose stated for the selected Keurig product, no pod, and a large ceramic mug. Repeat the prompted hot-water brews until the machine asks for fresh water.

Finish every fresh-water rinse
Rinse the reservoir, fill to MAX with fresh water and continue every prompted brew until the machine displays “Descale Complete” or the exact manual’s end state. If heavy scale stops flow, discard solution, rinse and leave unplugged for 30 minutes before continuing the fresh-water stage.

Why did cleaning not switch off the descale light?
Cleaning or a plain rinse is not the same as entering the brewer’s recorded descale mode. The full prompted solution and rinse sequence must reach its final state.
Can I use the same button combination on every Keurig?
No. Display models, K-Elite and compact brewers use different controls. Match the model label to its official guide.
