De’Longhi Magnifica Evo descaling: check ECAM29X and EX:2 first
Magnifica Evo procedures differ between ECAM29X.6Y/8Y, their EX:2 revision and ECAM29X.5X/2Y/3Y panels. The third rinse is usually a request for more water, not a fault.
Before you start
- ✓Record ECAM29X family and EX revision.
- ✓Remove the water filter and empty tray and grounds container.
- ✓Place a stable 2 L container under the specified outlets.

Choose the exact panel branch
Use De’Longhi’s EX:2 selector or the non-EX:2 support page. Do not transfer button timings between ECAM29X.6Y/8Y and 5X/2Y/3Y.
✓ After this stepThe official image matches every button on your machine. - 02
Dose EcoDecalk and water
With the filter removed, prepare 100 ml EcoDecalk plus 1 litre of water and the 2 L container, then start only the sequence for the identified panel.
✓ After this stepThe cycle starts on the same indicators shown by the official guide. - 03
Let the 30-minute cycle finish
Do not interrupt a started cycle. Follow refill and rinse prompts until the machine returns to ready.
✓ After this stepThe machine exits maintenance mode on its own. - 04
Accept a third rinse when requested
A third rinse usually means the tank was not filled to MAX for the previous rinse. Fill to MAX and continue; some rinse water can appear in the grounds container.
✓ After this stepThe descale indicator clears after the extra rinse.
