Krups CLEAN and CALC lights flashing: what to run

First check the range: Evidence uses an on-screen maintenance menu. On Essential/EA81, both lights can indicate the long rinse step, which needs a full tank and a 0.6 L container.

Before you start

  • Read the full EA reference under or behind the machine.
  • Fill the water tank completely.
  • Place a container of at least 0.6 L under the outlets.

  1. 01

    Identify Essential, not Evidence

Compare the rating plate with the EA810B/EA81 manual. The button sequence can differ between variants, so use the page that matches the full reference.

After this stepThe manual illustration matches your control panel exactly.
  2. 02

    Start the requested long rinse

With a full tank and the 0.6 L container in place, use the maintenance key specified in the exact manual. Let pumping and pauses complete without removing the tray or tank.

After this stepThe lights clear after the complete rinse, not during a normal pause.
  3. 03

    Rinse removable containers

After the program ends, empty and rinse the drip tray and grounds container. Refit them fully before restarting.

After this stepThe machine returns to its normal ready state.

FAQ · Krups Essential / EA81

Do CLEAN and CALC mean the same thing on Evidence?

No. Evidence guides maintenance through its screen. Use the Evidence menu and manual instead of an EA81 light sequence.
